About this deal

I love the fact that at the end of the book the authors take the time to explain which elements of their story are truth and which are fiction. The characters on the train are all interesting and well worth being the focus of Hal's artistic skills. A thrilling and hugely entertaining adventure story' – David Walliams on The Highland Falcon Thief, the first journey in the series. A lifelong fan of puzzles, games, and detective fiction, he grew up with a railway at the bottom of his garden and has been mad about trains ever since. She spent her early career in the music industry running Setanta Records, an independent record label, and managing bands, most notably The Divine Comedy.

Although Hal and Uncle Nat experienced a chilling adventure aboard the Danger at Dead Man’s Pass this journey holds a whole new level of threat. A small niggle is that the books do at times strike the tone, just a touch, of left-leaning political content and green/environmental nonsense, but if you can look past this than the whole series is a really great read. The illustrations are gorgeous and there is so much action you can just fly through these so quickly. This is the fourth different illustration style in the series, in keeping with the styles Hal tries out. As a grown up, she has written stories about fantastical beetles, beautiful birds and thrilling train rides.

However, next morning Morti has left the hotel but left a set of keys for Uncle Nat so they can use her cabin. They are travelling to the Aurora Sky Station in the Arctic circle, to see the Northern Lights for Christmas. Pan Macmillan) The next-door cabin to Hal’s and Uncle Nat’s on the Narvik train is empty when Uncle Nat’s friend withdraws from the journey. This sixth instalment is another whistle-stop ride through snowy landscapes - perfect for the wintry season. The Arctic Railway Assassin can be read as a stand-alone novel, or enjoyed as part of the Adventures on Trains series.

Like usual you suspect the wrong people at first, and I was convinced that some things that were important to the plot were totally irrelevant. At time for bed Nat realises that his phone and the room key are both missing from his jacket pocket.Yet news of Morti’s Nobel Prize has kicked off a chain of troubling incidents, including thefts, ransacking and shadowing. I was lucky enough to see a story that Sam Sedgman put up saying that the book was on Netgalley and even luckier to be accepted by Macmillan publishing to read early so I can review! As usual, I won't post any spoilers, though I will say it was a brilliant read, with twists and turns all through the journey. A wonderful book in a great series which would excite the imaginations of many a young reader (and plenty of older ones too! The bestselling, prize-winning Adventures on Trains series embarks on a thrilling sixth adventure as Harrison Beck and Uncle Nat climb aboard the night train to Narvik, travelling to the Arctic Circle to see the northern lights for Christmas.
