We will be running this from Wednesday 22nd February until Monday 27th February at 8am - 9am in the school office and again at 15:15 in the dining hall. While this is true of world-building in fantasy fiction as well, it is of great importance when using historical materials. Scott and I hope that readers find our use of historical details not only makes our fictional story more exciting and interesting but inspires them to seek out what actually happened. I found this perhaps a little fractured, with some characters and their build being entirely effective (pretty sure I know who Fat Franny is!

A free ticket can be obtained from the car parking machines situated on Beeston Lane or next to the swimming pool. As a Kilmarnock girl myself, the places in the book all have particular memories for me and it is great to read about the places I know so well. With his latest, Dashboard Elvis is Dead, what Ross has done is to move the majority of the action stateside, giving a more expansive feel to his writing. With 1000 outstanding colour illustrations, Ships is an essential reference book for all maritime and ship enthusiasts. The story itself is an entertaining one, but gets bogged down in parts, despite how entertaining and true to life some of the scenarios are. Using carefully chosen details to depict a historical setting gives the reader a place where they can experience history by identifying with the characters. This deprives learners from engaging with retellings of historical events with their senses, of engaging with history as if they were there.

Ships provides a fascinating at-a-glance guide to more than 1200 of the most important ships from the earliest times to the present day. My only real criticism is over the cover art, which makes the book look like exactly what it isn't; that being a geek's guide to the slow demise of vinyl records. The Village’s indoor sporting facilities also feature a climbing wall (ideal for team building activities), a martial arts dojo, a multi-use salle, studio space and a 25m official short course swimming pool. However, in photojournalist Jude Montgomery, Ross has given us one of the most memorable characters of recent times. All in all, I'm happy to have read it, but it really isn't as monumental as his last two books (as above), which are works of a more accomplished form, There's Only One Danny Garvey ranks as the best fiction ever written about Ayrshire Juniors fitba'!

David Ross Sports Village allow free car parking for up two hours and free parking on Wednesday afternoons. The attempt of a group of adolescents to make a bit of pocket money, even if not a living, by setting up a mobile disco business, makes for a very good major plot-line. This book presents a selection of 27 poems ranging in theme from love and the land to poems of exile and patriotism.

We have a wide choice of fitness classes, pool sessions and climbing wall tasters that are a great complement to any training programme. There’s a wonderful cast of characters, including political climber Anna Mason, musician Jamie Hewitt and his band, The Hyptones, who are ready to self-implode just as fame and success are within their grasp, and the enigmatic artist Rabbit. Please note, the swimming pool is available to hotel guests for individual swim only and large groups or teams will not be permitted access. The majority of pages are undamaged with some creasing or tearing, and pencil underlining of text, but this is minimal.

Ross is a regular contributor to Nutmeg and Razur Cuts magazines, and in December 2018 was chosen to contribute a poem commemorating the 16th anniversary of the death of Joe Strummer for the publication Ashes to Activists. No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. Joey is an idealist; Bobby just wants to get laid and avoid following his brother Gary to the Falklands.

You are invested in each and every one, so when everything is brought together the effect is all the more powerful. He is the undoubted King of the Ayrshire Mobile Disco scene, controlling and ruling the competition with an iron fist.
