To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. During these days from LEGO only standard wheels were available which didn't work well to build a steam engine. The cheap ball bearings feel rolling roughly and I did not want to spend 2€ or more for a good ball bearing. The size of these LEGO train wheels equals the "small" size of BBB's wheels and the new small LEGO train wheels with Technic axle hole. LEGO, the LEGO logo, the Minifigure, DUPLO, the FRIENDS logo, the MINIFIGURES logo, DREAMZzz, NINJAGO, VIDIYO and MINDSTORMS are trademarks of the LEGO Group. In my book, the guys at BMR are one of the most important resources for the Lego train hobby, first thing I thought of when I read this thread. They'll never run out of pieces thanks to products like the LEGO Train Base 6 x 24 Black, or the LEGO Train Coupling Buffer Beam With Sealed Magnets. We have a large range of commonly spaced rods that fit within the Technic system, perfect for replacing your brick built rods.

Your children will no longer be limited only to the pieces that have come in a pre designed LEGO play set. I assume from this point on the used grease / oil is more important for ball bearings in LEGO train wheel sets. If you use a self build Power Functions drive train you can power your locomotives right throught these train wheels. Here you will find many shapes and sizes of train wheels that go far beyond what BigBenBricks offers. Which is not bad at all: In 20+ years, these "axles" will be dead cheap on BL, should BL still exist. One bearing arrived in pieces, and just generally the Lego axles+wheels I have don't stick together very well so picking up a model generally means half the wheels fall off. I'm thinking the video will be less slide show than last time and more of a "methods" section, with a summary slide and the rest here. I'm more a Technic fan but long covid means I have too much Lego time and not enough enthusiasm for yet another Technic car.

The spoked wheels can not be powered directly so you have to use standard LEGO train motors which could be place in the tender or a waggon of the train. As soon as you allow for "distributed power units" it simply becomes an unlimited number of short trains coupled together (doable with 9v but difficult, easily done with PF and PUP).

I simply do not believe that the split axles, without any support in the center, will take the load from above in the long run. My first attempt with suitable ball bearings was good for heavy cars, but light cars ran significantly better with the orignal LEGO train axle than with my ball bearing solution, and so I had to find a better solution. The best ball bearings I have meet German standard DIN 620 precision rating P0 which is equivalent to ABEC 1. Make the cars heavy enough to prevent stringlining and the magnetic couplers will pull apart, strengthen the coupling and you go back to strignlining. Using the first method results in a significantly different wheel holder height and I do not like that.Once the sun comes up and I have enough light to make the camera happy I'll shoot some more video and collect more results. My cars are 7wide, the solution using technic bricks requires covering the wheels, but this will exceed 7wide. These dummy wheels are needed if you build a long section of train wheels which should be able to run on curved LEGO train track.
