About this deal

I love the front cover with the use of quite warming colours and the pencil lines that portray the bears in a friendly, cuddly way, rather than grisly and scary as they are sometimes perceived in other children’s books. A book for families, for dads and for illustration fans, this is in the same territory as the phenomenally successful Guess How Much I Love You, but with a subtler sentimentality that might appeal to a new generation of parents. Hughes’ detailed pencil illustrations show incredible texture, from the sweeping strokes of the bears’ fur to the gnarled trees and brushy forest. Taylor’s ( Hoot Owl, Master of Disguise) concise narration is resonant with developmental authenticity and psychological insight, with just enough repetition to lend a pleasing lilt; it’s the emotional heart of this story.

Here’s a selection of fantastic picture books that feature a father and child having adventures together. When he picks himself up and keeps going, his dad says, “I think a brave bear is probably the bravest thing in the world. Picture book favourites Giles Andreae and Emma Dodd team up to celebrate the relationship between a child and their father in this delightful board book. Another is through feeling, which is harder to set; she tries to do this by using expression, body language and colour. The training is essential to further the officers’ understanding of exploitation and its extent and impact on children. His picture books include the bestselling 'Hoot Owl, Master of Disguise' illustrated by Jean Jullien.

On the way, there are scraped knees and a bruised ego - but when dad offers to give his little one a carry, the little bear is determined to be brave.Emanating a wonderful sense of security, comfort and the closeness of family this is a charming story for Fathers Day. A touching observation of a bear and his cub as they take a trip to the river to cool down on a hot day.

Armed with this knowledge they can raise awareness among the school children they reach, so they can recognize the signs and keep themselves safe. When I first received and read this book, for whatever reason I was not keen on it and gave it a poor review. And he is the author of other popular picture books such as, 'HOW TO BE COOLER THAN COOL' 'KISS THE CROCODILE', 'THE SNOWBEAR', 'HUMPERDINK OUR ELEPHANT FRIEND', and 'ROBOT RUMPUS'. Ideal for pre-schoolers and perfect for reading together, this book is sure to become a family favourite. The text perfectly catches some of those special interactions between parent and child, and illustrator Emily Hughes makes the bears particularly endearing. The Bravebear team are brilliant at creating non nonsense, budget friendly web solutions fast and collaboratively. The Brave Bear book is a fantastic resource that addresses the complex issue of modern slavery in a suitably age-appropriate and effective way.

Once complete each bear is placed in a special keepsake bag and given to the child complete with a numbered certificate. It's difficult to emphasise how great an illustrator Emily Hughes (her pencil drawings and texturing make for such a rich and inviting landscape - the double-page spread of the bears heading home is one of my favourites) is and how touchingly Taylor captures the relationship between father and son. The children recognise themselves in the bear as he trips up and father bear helps him back onto his feet. I think it's an ideal bed time read for toddlers, and not to long a read that parents get fed up reading it.
