I liked the plot of this book, I’ve not see a plot like it which immediately makes it stand out from the crowd. Soon there is a murder and as readers we are given the chance to see events through the eyes of several of the main characters. There's some great world building/family secrets/personal details in TLP, and AGOL expands on those a bit. I got into Claire Mackintosh after reading 'After the End', and 'I Let You Go' but this doesn't nearly compare (in a bad way).

Wanneer er vervolgens een moord wordt gepleegd, zijn er veel verdachten en net zoveel alibi’s… maar wie vertelt de waarheid?I’m obsessed with the secluded Welsh setting and the eccentric cast of characters, but honestly, the humor really stands out here. You know those 80s rom-coms where all of the drama could have been avoided if the two characters had just had an honest conversation with each other? The second installment of DC Morgan’s series was such an anticipated read for me, since I absolutely loved the first book. You really do feel the Welshness via the language, the local characters and their roots and the area is beautifully described so it exudes atmosphere.

A Game of Lies by Clare Mackintosh is the second book in the brilliant DC Ffion Morgan and DS Leo Brady series. Ffion is a great character – conscientious in her pursuit of a murderer, although far from rigorous in her relationship with formal protocol. He has unearthed damaging secrets about each of them, to be divulged as individual competitors are expelled, with only the eventual winner being able to keep theirs hidden. I was never bored and was invested in the drama behind the secrets of the reality contestants, as well as the drama that makes up Ffion’s life. Thinking they’re going to be contestants on a survival reality show, these 7 hand picked contestants have no idea what they are in for until premier night. Immediately, they go from being excited about being on a reality show, to terrified about what the producer knows and what will happen when their secret is revealed on live television.

This is a book that is great for you holiday and I do recommend you read the first book The Last Party but you will be ok if you haven't read this.Thank you NetGalley and (publisher, Little Brown Book Group) for sending this book for review consideration. I especially liked Georgina, whose cold, unemotional demeanour conceals a dreadful secret but also a great sense of humour.

Now I LOVED Book 1, one of my fav reads last year so was looking forward to this, the story is good…. Thank you to NetGalley and Little Brown Book Group for my advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. As if this circumstance isn't frightening enough, they also have to face their fears in a pond, including falling snakes and spiders if they refuse to come clean about the truth. Secrets best buried are about to be revealed and each contestant must play a game of lies to stop others discovering theirs.Ffion is such a formidable and fierce character - I could read a dozen more books with her at the centre. Het leugenspel draait in eerste instantie een tijdlang om de zoektocht naar een vermiste deelnemer van de realityshow Exposure. A new reality television programme, Exposure, is being filmed near the village, and one of the local residents is a contestant.
