According to the spec sheet, there’s no difference between the Hisense Roku R50A7200GTUK and its 2020 predecessor, but their two sonic presentations are like chalk and cheese. One favours clarity, the other authority, but ultimately neither one produces particularly better TV sound than the other. It seems there’s only so much life that can be squeezed from this modest two 8W speaker system. If the item was delivered by Royal Mail or if you collected the item yourself then you will be required to return it at your expense via the same method. Be aware that those feet are at either end of the frame, though, so if you’re not going to wall-mount this Hisense TV you’ll need a fairly wide surface for it to stand on. If you are tempted to put it on the wall, mind you, be aware of the A7200GTUK’s woefully unfashionable 85mm depth. This is not the flattest flatscreen around by any means.

Feet are stationed out wide, and assembly means slotting them in and tightening the screws. Getting to the TV’s start menu takes minutes once the TV has been registered. Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support arrived on the Roku OS in 2020 – the former enabling streaming from iOS devices, while the latter offers control over smart devices within the Apple ecosystem. These additions help widen the breadth of the Roku TV platform, looking outwards rather than in. Inclusion, like in other walks of life, can only be a good thing in this respect. No one wants a TV that’s been overly designed, do they? And never fear, the R50A7200GTUK hasn’t been so much ‘designed’ as ‘put together’– and if you ask us it’s all the better for it.
